1st Trimester: Jan 5 - Apr 12 (Weeks 1-13)
2nd Trimester: Apr 13 - Jul 19 (Weeks 14-27)
3rd Trimester: Jul 20 - Oct 12 (Weeks 28-40)

How is the due date calculated?

The most common way to estimate the due date is using Naegele's Rule. This method is based on an average 28-day menstrual cycle and assumes ovulation occurs on day 14 of the cycle. The formula involves adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP).

How accurate is this date?

It is important to remember that this date is only an estimate. Only a small percentage of babies are born exactly on their due date. A full-term pregnancy is considered between 37 and 42 weeks, so it is normal for delivery to occur in the two weeks before or after the estimated date.

For a more accurate date, especially if your cycles are irregular, the first-trimester ultrasound is the most reliable method used by healthcare professionals. This calculator is an excellent initial guidance tool, but you should always consult your doctor or midwife for proper follow-up.
