Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle
Knowing your cycle is key to understanding your fertility. A menstrual cycle begins on the first day of your period and ends the day before the next one. Although the average is 28 days, it's normal for the duration to vary between 21 and 35 days.
Ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary) usually occurs about 14 days before the next period. Your fertile window is the days when you are most likely to conceive: the five days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.
